Our bodies were built to be barefooted, Native Americans and most cultures that live more closely to the land go barefoot or wear very thin animal skin sandals. I guarantee if you try out a pair you won't want to take them off. Especially in West Texas...everything out here bites, scratches, or stings. And with shoes like those i bet you can add Penetrates.
